Greetings St. Ignatius Families,

Our 7th graders led our school in a beautiful Stations of the Cross service today, Good Friday. The students sat with their Family Group and pondered how we can live as children of God. All of our students brought in their rice boxes for Transition Lunches and Our Giving Table. What a blessing to generously support those in need in our local community this Easter season!

Serving, Learning, Growing: Our students continue to embrace learning joyfully. Our preschoolers have painted spring flowers. The kindergarteners painted watercolor Good Friday crosses. Our first graders have made their Last Supper scene, Easter Hosanna banners and painted beautiful spring . The second graders finished their Holy Week pop-up books and painted cherry blossom trees. The third graders have been studying artist John Behnke creating camouflaged animals in the city. This week, third grade put together our Transition Lunches as well. The fifth graders created their stations of the cross paintings. Our sixth graders have made Earth Day commitments as stewards of God’s wondrous creation. The eighth graders painted gorgeous lilies for their hallway bulletin board. Our middle school mural-making class adorned our doors with painted stained glass crosses this week. Our students are showing their passionate hearts in all they do.

Teacher Appreciation: During the month of May, we will again celebrate our hard-working, dedicated, loving teachers! If you wish to contribute to funding the special treats and meals for our staff in May, please feel free to do so through this link: **https://sispdx.ejoinme.org/teacherappreciation**

Afterschool Reminders: Wow, what stunning weather we have had this week! As families remain after school for playing and socializing, we would like to remind you of a few expectations we have for that time. Please supervise and monitor your students during their play time at all times. Please remind your student(s) not to tackle each other or pull on each other on the turf.

Easter Egg Hunt: Join in on the fun of the Easter Egg Hunt after the 10:30 AM Mass on Easter Sunday. Volunteers are needed. Check out this flyer with a volunteer link.

Baptism Opportunity in May: In recent years, ****we have found that there are some students who are interested in participating in the Sacramental preparation classes, but have not yet been baptized. We imagine this might be especially true of our 5-7 year old students now, since they were small when the world was experiencing a pandemic. For that reason, we are offering a special time for our Kindergarten through Second Grade students to celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism together at our school Mass on Wednesday, May 21st. If you are interested in participating in this baptism with your child, please fill out and return the baptism registration form by April 25th. Please contact Patty Frangipani ([email protected]) with any questions. There will be a mandatory baptism preparation class for parents and for students on Sunday, May 18th at 9AM in the parish office. Thank you for entrusting St. Ignatius with the education and spiritual growth of your child.  Baptism Registration 2025[28] (1).pdf

School Advisory Council (SAC):  Please consider joining the School Advisory Committee. St. Ignatius School's School Advisory Committee (SAC) is looking for four new members to serve a 3-year term, beginning in September 2025. If you are looking for a meaningful way to connect more deeply with St. Ignatius School or are interested in contributing to the school through strategic planning, mission effectiveness, public relations, financial planning, and policy development, please consider joining the School Advisory Committee.  If you have questions or are interested in nominating yourself or someone else, please fill out this form and consider talking with one of our current SAC representatives: Sarah Maher (Chair), Mike Pettinger (co-chair), Michael Miller, Miranda Hacherl, Sarah Trester, Margaret Hoecker-Gaynor, Amanda Williams, Amy Rozzelle, Derrick Lau, or Eben Dickinson.  Thank you for thoughtfully considering this important and valuable contribution to our school community.

We wish you a happy blessed Easter weekend! Throughout the Easter season, may we continue to be transformed through the Holy Spirit as Pope Francis explains, “In Paul’s case, what changed him is not a simple idea or a conviction: it was the encounter, this word, it was the encounter with the risen Lord—do not forget this, it is the encounter with the Lord that changes a life—it was the encounter with the risen Lord that transformed his entire being. Paul’s humanity, his passion for God and his glory was not annihilated, but transformed, “converted” by the Holy Spirit.” –Pope Francis, March of 2023.

Peace be with you,

Carol Pausz

Principal
