Greetings St. Ignatius Families,

Dear St. Ignatius School Families,

I pray that your summer has been filled with much needed rest and enjoyable family adventures. I enjoyed a flexible schedule and the peaceful pace of summer. We are all excited to welcome back our students and families! As we begin a new school year, I would like to introduce this year’s theme: “Companions on the Journey.” Theme postcards will be handed out at our Back-to-School Night. Throughout the year, you will see and hear this theme frequently, and we will invite our students to reflect on it regularly. We hope it provides a strong focus for our entire school community throughout the upcoming school year. The information and forms provided below will help your family navigate the beginning of the school year. Please take time to read through the information as you prepare for a new school year.

ST. IGNATIUS SCHOOL FOUNDATION: **The St. Ignatius School Foundation is an endowment with a mission of keeping St. Ignatius School accessible, economically diverse, and affordable for anyone seeking a Catholic education for their child(ren). Their annual gift allows our school to offer many families need-based tuition assistance. This year our St. Ignatius School Foundation will again split the proceeds from their annual golf tournament 50/50 with the school. Receiving 50% of the golf tournament proceeds, in addition to the annual support the Foundation gives us, will most certainly help us to continue offering generous need-based tuition assistance. Please help our school by supporting this year’s golf tournament on Saturday, September 6th. Ways you can support the golf tournament include: signing up to play golf, putting together a foursome to play, getting together as a grade level to sponsor a hole, sponsoring a hole, volunteering at the event, and/or donating new items or gift cards for raffle prizes. Please drop off donations to our school office by Friday, September 5th.

Thank you for helping the St. Ignatius School Foundation with their mission in supporting our school. Funds raised help support our students in their learning journey here at St. Ignatius School.

SCHOOL BBQ FORM: Please join us for a Back-to-School BBQ from 5:00-6:30 PM during our Meet & Greet on Thursday, August 28th. The Diss Family will cater this community building event for us. Therefore, we need an accurate count of how many meals we will need. Please fill out this RSVP form: **School BBQ RSVP 2025  by Monday, August 18th.**

CLASS COLOR SHIRT ORDER FORM: Please fill out the form for your child’s shirt size through this link:

**https://forms.gle/iccrrHwT96yg3UZx5 due by Thursday, August 28.**  We must submit this order by Wednesday, September 3rd to receive these shirts in time for our Jog-a-Thon at the end of September.

SCHOOL SUMMER PROJECTS: During the month of July, we were busy with routine maintenance and improvements. All of our school classrooms and offices were outfitted with new locking door knobs with funding from an Archdiocese Safety Grant. We installed new carpet into our office, staff room, counseling-learning support space, the principal’s office, and a closet space using remnant carpet rolls we had after we carpeted several classrooms last summer. We replaced entry carpeted mats for both entry doors. Our classroom floors, carpets, and rugs have been cleaned and polished ready to welcome students back for another year of joyful learning.

CHURCH FAITH FORMATION PROGRAMS: Confirmation: If you have a student in 7th grade or above who would like to be confirmed at St. Ignatius this year, registration must be completed no later than Sunday, September 7th. The Confirmation class starts with a required all-day retreat at Loyola Jesuit Center on September 13th. Follow this link to register now: **https://www.sipdx.org/high-school-confirmation**

First Communion: Registration is open for students in the 2nd grade and above for First Reconciliation/First Communion classes. Classes will begin on September 28th. Follow this link to register now:

PARENT VOLUNTEERS: There are many opportunities throughout the year for parents to volunteer. Volunteer opportunities for the parish and CYO count for your fairshare hours. Families will record service hours through Track It Forward. Both school and parish hours will be tracked through this platform. Volunteer events for the school include our major fundraisers such as the Jog-a-thon, Turkey Bingo, and our school auction. Volunteers are also needed during the school day for classroom specific projects and ***lunch recess monitoring.***

Parent volunteers must pass a background check every two years and be up-to-date on C.A.S.E. training.

New volunteers will need to complete an in-person C.A.S.E. training through the archdiocese. Our first C.A.S.E. training session here at St. Ignatius School is Wednesday, September 10th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Please register through the Google Form link, so we can prepare accordingly.  Volunteers can register and take a C.A.S.E. training at any parish location.

FAIR SHARE REQUIREMENTs 2025-2026:

AUGUST WORK PARTY: We have volunteer opportunities available at school the week of August 18-22. You may swing by anytime between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM on the dates listed for the task to assist. Here are some of the volunteer tasks available:

MEET AND GREET: Our Meet and Greet-supply drop-off will be on Thursday, August 28th from 3:00 PM-7:00 PM. Our school BBQ will take place during this event from 5:00-6:30 PM.

UNIFORM EXCHANGE: There will be uniform exchange tables available outside during our Meet & Greet event and in the cafeteria the first week of school. You may drop off clean uniforms you no longer need in a bag and/or you may pick up uniforms available on the tables for the upcoming year. Some important uniform reminders are:

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: Tuesday, September 2nd*. We encourage you to treat the first day just as you treat any other day for arrival and pick-up, therefore if you plan to normally drive through the carline, please do so on the 1st day of school too. This will help the arrival and dismissal process to go smoother and will help settle students into their routine more quickly. It will also likely get you going with your afternoon much faster!*
