Greetings St. Ignatius Families,

What a spectacular Christmas Program! Thank you to all of our Grandparents-Special Friends, and family members that attended this year’s program. What a joy to see and talk with so many of our students’ biggest fans and school supporters! We are so blessed to have such talented and musically gifted students in our midst. Thank you to our 8th grade emcees- Lucia Kelly, William McDermott, and David Ream and their script writers-Asha Corcoran and Lila MacKenzie. Special thanks to the many staff members that assist behind the scenes: Mr. Auer and Mrs. Downing for their work on putting together the programs using our students' artwork, Mrs. Chambers for assisting our script writers and emcees, and our decorating committee: Ms. Fay, Ms. Schultheis, Mr. Brobeck, Mrs. Chambers, and Mr. MacKenzie. And lastly, thank you and kudos to Mr. MacKenzie for an awesome program!

Serving, Learning, Growing: Our students truly embrace and enjoy the many hands-on learning opportunities and community building activities offered at St. Ignatius School. Our preschoolers are developing their fine motor skills cutting and gluing their Christmas trees. The kindergarteners have been busily adding their artwork to their hallway nativity scene and received letters back from Santa Claus! Our first graders have created their beautiful trees and personalized elves. The second graders have been learning about line plots, bar graphs, and pictographs in math. The third graders released their salmon into the Sandy River at a location designated by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Department last weekend and wrote their own salmon stories that they shared with the kindergartners.  The fourth graders have been busy learning how to simplify fractions. The fifth graders created gorgeous artistic manger scenes. Our kindergarten through 2nd grade students took an imaginary ride of the Polar Express today! The middle school students took the lead in assisting with our Family Group Christmas movie. May our students continue engaging their eager minds, passionate hearts, and enthusiastic spirits over their winter vacation!

Report Cards & Star Testing: Report cards are ready for viewing and electronically signing in SchoolSpeak. Please electronically sign your child’s report card. We are finishing our second round of Renaissance Star standardized testing this week into early next week. Winter Star reports will be sent home on Friday, January 10, 2025 in a sealed envelope with the oldest child of the family. We are so incredibly proud of how much all of our students continue to grow in all ways as children of God.

FACTS: Applications for tuition assistance for the 2025-2026 school year are open. Please fill out an application for need-based tuition assistance by Friday, January 31st!

Recess Volunteering: We welcome parents wishing to assist us with lunch recess monitoring the sign-up to do so. Recess monitoring takes place from 12-1 PM daily and is a fun, easy way to get your volunteer hours in. Many of our volunteers commit to two-four days per month, which helps our staff have time to devote to problem-solving recess challenges on the spot.

Uniform Exchange: Please check your child’s uniforms. Many students are outgrowing their current uniforms as we see shorter pants, skirts, and jumpers these days. You can return those outgrown items and gather longer, better fitting uniform clothing at our exchange in the cafeteria the first week we return in January!

Lost & Found: During our uniform exchange the first week of January, we will move the many overflowing items from our lost and found area into the cafeteria too. Please pick up any lost and found items belonging to your family either before or after school. Remaining items will be donated.

Aspire, Believe, Celebrate: Our ***Aspire, Believe, Celebrate school auction*** will take place on Saturday, March 1, 2025 during Mardi Gras season. Our theme reflects our school’s mission in that we Aspire to develop students committed to building a just and compassionate world for all.  Believe in our students’ gifts and talents. Celebrate our students’ accomplishments along the way. With an earlier auction date, we need to solicit sponsors and procure items. Thank you to the many families that have given for their Procurement.  We held our drawings for the kid-friendly prize baskets  today. Congratulations to the four families that won a prize basket today! We will accept procurement donations through Friday, January 31st.

You can already purchase early bird admission tickets now through January 31 and raffle tickets may be purchased until sold out. Only 500 raffle tickets are sold and the prize is $3,000!

End of Year Donations: Donations are accepted through the parish office mailbox or school via mail for those last minute end-of-year donations. Benevity is a mobile application available for smartphones used by workplaces to track volunteer hours for matching with charitable organizations. If your workplace uses Benevity, you can designate St. Ignatius Church or St. Ignatius School as your charity. Thank you for supporting the St. Ignatius School’s mission of developing students committed to building a just and compassionate world for all.

Boy Scout Tree Lot: Santa Claus will be at the Boy Scout tree lot this weekend from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM. The Boy Scouts are holding a food drive too for local families. If you still need a Christmas tree, there will a “Pay your Price” opportunity on Monday, December 23 all day. Merry Christmas from Scout Troop 351.

Next week, we are closed for Christmas break. We wish you a safe and blessed Christmas and Happy New Year. May you enjoy time with your family over the holiday break. May this Christmas season fill your heart with joy and wonder. “And the Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us, and we saw his glory, the glory of the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth.” John 1:14.
