All reasonable measures will be taken to meet a student's medical needs while they are at school. Practices are in place to help keep students safe from harm and illness while they are at school.

Nutrition

We strongly encourage all students and parents to make nutritious food choices for their snacks and lunches. Eating a balanced, nutritious diet is an essential part of maintaining good health, and can help students feel their best. High-quality nutrition can enhance students' concentration, performance, and energy levels, all of which are crucial for effective learning.

Poor food choices, like foods high in sugar or unhealthy fats, can negatively impact a student's ability to focus and learn. Such choices can lead to energy crashes, difficulty concentrating, and an overall decrease in academic performance.

Therefore, we encourage parents to pack snacks and lunches that include a balance of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Only water is allowed in classroom water bottles. We discourage the inclusion of sugary drinks, sweets, and other high-fat, low-nutrition foods in students' meals and snacks.

By prioritizing healthy food choices, we can work together to create an optimal learning environment for all students.

Specific classrooms may not allow specific food items. The following food items are not allowed throughout the school:

Communicable Diseases

Many communicable diseases or conditions can be easily spread in a school setting. If a doctor diagnoses any contagious disease or condition, parents are required to notify the school promptly and keep their child at home. A doctor's note may be required before the student may return to school in some cases. Parents should notify the school immediately if their child has been exposed to or has any contagious condition.

Students and staff must be excluded from the school setting if they are in the communicable stages of a school-restrictable disease. Diseases requiring exclusion from school:

COVID-19 Salmonella enterica serotype Typhi infection
Chickenpox Scabies
Hepatitis A Hepatitis E
Measles Shiga-toxigenic E.coli (STEC) infection
Mumps Shigellosis
Pertussis Infectious tuberculosis
Rebella
