We, the community of St. Ignatius School, in the tradition of Mother Marie Rose and St. Ignatius of Loyola, provide a faith-centered Catholic education guiding God’s children toward building a just and compassionate world.
Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon

We are so proud of our 2026 St. Ignatius School graduates! They have shown us what it means to be joyful, kind leaders always willing to serve. As they move into high school, they will continue to make a positive impact in creating a just and compassionate world for all. We will miss them. We wish each and every one of our Gator Graduates the best in the next adventure!

Promotion Mass: We ended the year with our typical Promotion Mass where the students ‘move’ into their new grade level’s location in the church. Fr. San asked the students if they remembers the five Jesuit Grad at Grad characteristics- Loving, Religious, Intellectually Competent, Open to Growth, and Committed to Justice. Then Fr. San encouraged all of us to rest and be grateful for the year we have just finished. We blessed our departing staff members as well. The 7th grade class lead us in this beautiful Mass as they rise up to 8th grade and become the new leaders of our school.

Serving, Learning, Growing: Even through the final days of the school year, our students continue to expand their eager minds. On Wednesday, our students got to ‘visit’ their next classroom and meet their next teacher. Students enjoyed getting excited for a new year of learning! In this last week of school, our preschoolers were thrilled to be the audience for the 3rd graders Reader’s Theater for Elephant and Piggy stories by Mo Willems. The first graders performed Reader’s Theater for Frog & Toad stories. The second graders tested out their engineered bubble wands. The fourth graders finished up learning about Oregon history. The fifth graders created a class story to learn about the 50 United States. The sixth grader dissected frogs this week with the steady hands and curious minds of future surgeons. Our seventh graders took over the morning announcement duties after the eighth grade graduation and the seventh grade class spread out among classrooms to assist with packing up this school year in preparation for summer. Finally, our middle school mural making elective finished their beautiful mural on the wall between our school and cafeteria. We hope our Gators continue to calculate, read, and write with curious minds all summer long!

Summer Resources: Lisa Chambers and our Learning Support Team have put together a comprehensive list of educationally based, fun things to do over the summer to keep those brains learning. Click here to pursue some wonderful ideas and links organized by grade level.
Report Cards: We expect to release the final report cards on SchoolSpeak by Monday afternoon. Please take a moment to review your child’s report card right away, so you can ask for clarifications needed from the teachers before many of them leave for summer on Wednesday. A hard copy will be mailed home along with final Star reports in the end of June packet including important information about the upcoming school year.
Staffing Update: As we welcome a larger kindergarten class for next year, we have hired an instructional assistant for Kindergarten. Please join us in welcoming Kellee Capri as our new kindergarten instructional assistant. We have learned that Ryan Harvey, our part time 4th grade instructional assistant, will unfortunately not be able to return next year as he is returning to school to become a high school social studies teacher. We will be hiring for his position when we return in August. We would also like to announce that Steve Roberts, our religion teacher for grades our 4th, 5th, 6th, and 8th grade classes plus technology teacher for 7th & 8th grade and of course, performing arts electives, has decided to retire at the end of this school year. We have already begun the search for his successor. If you know of anyone qualified and interested in this position, please send them our way. The full description of the job is posted on the Archdiocese of Portland employment webpage. Please join us in congratulating Mr. Roberts on a long career spanning over 35 years in education.
