We, the community of St. Ignatius School, in the tradition of Mother Marie Rose and St. Ignatius of Loyola, provide a faith-centered Catholic education guiding God’s children toward building a just and compassionate world.
Archdiocese of Portland in Oregon

Mass: This week, our first and eighth graders partnered to lead our school Mass. The readings and homily focused on gratitude, highlighting the story of Jesus healing the ten lepers—only one of whom returned to give thanks. During the first reading, which told of Naaman’s healing through faith, the students used hand and body motions to bring the story to life. Fr. San and Fr. James concelebrated the Mass, which was a special opportunity for our Accreditation Visiting Team to witness the joyful way we come together to celebrate the Eucharist.

Accreditation Visit: Our Accreditation Visiting Team spent Tuesday through Thursday immersing themselves in the life of our school community. During their visit, they observed classrooms and met with teacher teams, parish leadership — including Fr. San and Fr. James — parents, members of three student Family Groups, our School Advisory Council, and the St. Ignatius School Foundation. Their role was to experience our school firsthand, recognize areas of strength, and affirm the goals outlined in our Self-Study and Educational Improvement Plan (EIP). They were especially impressed by the joyful spirit of our community — students, staff, and parents alike — and shared that St. Ignatius is truly a special place. The team presented their findings to our staff yesterday afternoon. You can read the Executive Summary of their report by clicking here.
Day of the Dead: We will celebrate our loved ones who have passed through the celebration of Dia de Los Muertos by creating a school wide Ofrenda where students can add pictures of family members, friends, and pets that have passed. This is a celebration for the remembrance of loved ones who are no longer with us, similar to a celebration of life. The Ofrenda will be set up for viewing October 27 - October 31 in the school entry display cases. If your student would like to participate, please send them to school with a printed photo ( 4x6 or 3x5) of a loved one who has passed. Photos need to be turned in by Thursday October 23rd. If you would like the photo back, please make sure to write the name and class room of your student on the back. No frames please. We strive to accommodate each family's schedule as best we can. Confirmation of your conference date and time was sent home last Thursday—please check your child’s backpack if you haven’t seen it.
