St. Ignatius provides its students with a well-rounded education that goes beyond religious and academic instruction.
Field study is a valuable part of the learning process that enhances and expands student understanding. All students attending school sponsored field trips must have written permission from their parent or guardian. Transportation is by bus, or in private cars with seat belts for each student. Younger students may be required to bring their own child booster seat.
Field trips support student learning and must be tied to specific curriculum standards. A field trip letter and permission slip will be sent home with students two weeks prior to the planned trip. Permission slips must be signed by an parent or guardian and returned to school. A phone call cannot be accepted for authorization to attend a field trip.
Chaperones are vital to a successful field trip. We will not take field trips without adequate supervision; therefore, we encourage parents/guardians to volunteer their time. All field trip chaperones must have: a current background check, up-to-date with C.A.S.E. training, and drivers must also have proof of auto insurance on file.
Student council is open to students in 7th and 8th grade who show satisfactory conduct and academic performance in all subject areas. Student leaders are active in service and spirit activities in the school. Staff serve as advisors.
The yearbook is coordinated by a group of 8th grade students who meet weekly. A teacher serves as advisor.
Art Literacy encourages students to celebrate the many ways artists enrich the lives of others. Students study three to four artists over the school year and create an art piece in the style of the artist studied. Parent volunteers work with the classroom teachers to plan, prepare, and teach the lessons about the artist and the selected grade level project. Students learn about the artist celebrating diverse cultures and communicating ideas and emotions through the artistic medium. Students care for God’s creation and build a just and compassionate world through the arts in the Art Literacy program.
